Switchfoot mp3 BONANZA!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007 at about 1:36 pm

Switchfoot just keeps getting better and better. I don’t just mean musically (though they do), I mean “better” in almost every sense of the word. Today’s free Christian mp3 offering is really an entire website devoted to free Switchfoot music:

http://switchfootbootlegs.com/

Yep. Better. You can download free copies of bootleg recording from their Oh! Gravity tour. I chose the Seattle show, since I grew up there (and am about to return for a three-week vacation)…and here’s a list of the free songs from that night:

awakening
american dream
gone
ammunition
4:12
shadow proves the sunshine

Each song is available in AAC or MP3, making it work for just about anybody. Don’t feel like listening to their Seattle concert? Fine…try Hartford, CT:

awakening
oh! gravity
stars / easier than love
the fatal wound
this is your life
lonely nation

Notice something interesting: the song list differs by location! I think I’ll have to visit a few cities to get the entire playlist:

oh! gravity

1. Oh! Gravity.
2. American Dream
3. Dirty Second Hands
4. Awakening
5. Circles
6. Amateur Lovers
7. Faust, Midas, And Myself
8. Head Over Heels (In This Life)
9. Yesterdays
10. Burn Out Bright
11. 4:12
12. Let Your Love Be Strong

Have fun…and go get ‘em!

Artist: Chris Eaton

Monday, March 12th, 2007 at about 10:09 am

I listen to music. A lot.

Some of you probably have more music than I do, to be sure…but, unlike most music fans, my 50-or-so gigabytes of mp3s are in constant rotation. I have only one playlist: PLAY ALL (SHUFFLE).

Some days I find myself ignoring the same mediocre songs, and some days I end up listening to the same really good songs over and over. With that much music, it’s pretty easy to lose a song for months. This morning’s really good song is All or Nothing by Chris Eaton, from Love Songs for a Lifetime.

I’ve had this 2-disc set for over 10 years, and it never gets old. I really like Chris’ song…and I suddenly realized how much more work I have to do here on CCM Links. I didn’t have a link to Chris’ website. I haven’t finished a single album review, and I feel terrible about it. A number of really great artists have sent me promotional CDs and I’ve been sitting on them, waiting for both the right time to do them and the inspiration needed to finally decide on a format for reviews.

Well, I’ve added Chris’ site to my list. I’d also like to apologize to those of you who’ve sent music but seen nothing in return. I’m sorry. I have a stack of albums ready and waiting, and I hope to get to them in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, please visit Chris Eaton’s website and think about your own music collection. If you have a favorite artist or band who isn’t currently listed on CCM Links, I hope you’ll take the time to let me know.

Video: Switchfoot - Oh! Gravity

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 at about 4:56 pm

I was just doing some other stuff, and wondered whether you’d like to watch a Switchfoot video. I don’t watch a lot of online music videos, since I’m usually busy working and listening to the same songs. Here’s Oh! Gravity…

Can You Digg It?

Friday, March 2nd, 2007 at about 4:58 pm

I’ve never been a big proponent of the “social media” thing…it’s too easy to ‘game the system’. I will, however, shamelessly attempt to spread the word about great Christian music in almost any way possible. That’s why I recently added a ShoutLife page to my repertoire. It’s been fun, and I even got connected to a few old (and new friends) along the way.

Now I’ve taken another step, as you can see below. I’ve added a Digg thingy. That’s it’s technical name, by the way. Digg thingy.

If you’re into that sort of thing, feel free to use the Digg thingy to Digg a post. I’m not sure how helpful it will be in spreading the word, but I’m fairly confident that it’s not going to hurt anything. Have fun Digging!
