mp3: Unveiled

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006 at about 6:40 am

If you were paying attention in the late 90’s, you might have heard an alternative band called Veil of Ashes. Despite playing with groups like The Choir and The 77’s, they never really gained a national audience. You can download a free clip of Curse, if you’re so inclined.

Anyway, that’s not why were here. Sean Doty, formerly of Veil of Ashes, released some music as Unveiled (get the pun?), backed by Mike Roe and friends. You can download Sleep and hear it in all of its glory. If you’re like me, you appreciate artists whose music may be a little too religious for the world, and a little too worldly for the religious. This list includes artists like Steve Taylor, The 77’s, The Choir, The Lost Dogs, Daniel Amos, and many others. Add your own to the list!

mp3: Tracing Days

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006 at about 6:40 am

Free mp3 of Life Outside by Tracing Days from their album Control.

I’d never heard of Tracing Days…I really like this single and look for more from them. This two-man band from Big Sky country (Bozeman, MT) has a big sound to match…they sound like they’ve been together more than a couple of years.

What are you waiting for? Go get it!

Stop the Process

Saturday, October 21st, 2006 at about 2:35 pm

I heard a good speaker the other day: Sean Dunn of Groundwire Ministries. He said something that bears repeating…

While addressing a room full of ministers, he pointed out the fact that moral weakness is a major cause of failure for those in positions of leadership. We all knew that, of course. What he said next hit home:

To avoid moral weakness, we have to stop the process.

Sin isn’t an accident. It’s the result of creeping compromises. It’s an incremental process that we allow to occur by looking the other way. To keep ourselves from letting moral weakness become a problem, we must stop the process.

Thanks, Sean!
